Spartan Scan Fundraiser supports local Habitat for Humanity
January 19, 2022 – Petoskey, MI – Northwest Michigan Habitat for Humanity has once again partnered with local SpartanNash stores for the annual Spartan Scan Fundraiser, beginning this February. Shoppers at the Family Fare stores in Charlevoix, Boyne City, East Jordan, and the D&W Fresh Market in Petoskey will have the opportunity to donate during checkout to the local Habitat affiliate. One hundred percent of all funds raised go directly to Northwest Michigan Habitat for Humanity in Petoskey, which provides affordable housing opportunities and repairs to Emmet and Charlevoix Counties.
Last year, the Spartan Scan Fundraiser raised nearly $5,000 for NM Habitat, which went towards construction costs on four homes that were being built in Alanson and Oden. All four homes are now completed and have been purchased by local residents who partnered with Habitat to obtain an affordable mortgage. To help meet the growing need for affordable housing across Northern Michigan, NM Habitat has home builds scheduled in East Jordan, Pellston, Alanson, and Oden this year, along with several home repair projects.
“Funds raised during this event will help with construction costs on three homes that we are currently building” says Gina Stegehuis, Marketing Manager at NM Habitat. “We have another 12 new homes that are scheduled to be built later this year, and that’s just the beginning. Our organization is preparing to launch the biggest building project in our history. By participating in the Spartan Scan and donating during checkout you are helping us kickstart these much-needed affordable housing initiatives within our community.”
Since 2006 the SpartanNash Foundation and generous store guests have raised and granted nearly $2.1 million to support local Habitats and hardworking homebuyers. The Spartan Scan Fundraiser begins on February 9th and ends on February 20th. More information about this fundraiser can be found at Northwest Michigan Habitat for Humanity’s Facebook page.
