Northwest Michigan Habitat for Humanity is helping to maintain neighborhoods and allowing residents to live safely in their homes through the Critical Home Repair Program. Habitat is able to provide residents of Emmet and Charlevoix Counties who own a home (including those who are currently paying a mortgage) a no-interest or low-interest loan to complete critical repairs. These repairs can include a wide variety of work to improve the safetly, handicap accessibility, and affordability of a home. Home Repair partners pay a total repair cost based on a sliding income scale over the course of 7 years. Home Repair partners never pay more than 80% of the total cost of the repair.
