“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
- Margaret Mead
Volunteers are the heart and backbone of Habitat!
Time and time again, our community has demonstrated its generosity through countless hours of volunteer work. Through this collective effort families have been able to move into their very own homes. Thank you to everyone who has helped us build homes, communities and hope for families in need of a safe place to call home!
We build and repair homes throughout Emmet and Charlevoix Counties.
We are currently building in Oden and Alanson, with a build scheduled to begin in East Jordan later this year. Construction usually takes place Monday-Saturday from 9am-4pm. When multiple projects are happening at the same time, our schedule may vary from 2-3 days a week per jobsite. Schedules are weather dependent.
Minors who are interested in volunteering on the construction site are welcome to help with projects such as painting, landscaping, and other age-appropriate projects as they come up. For information on how minors can get signed up please call Dennis at 231-348-6926 or email Dennis@northwestmihabitat.org
The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is the store that builds homes!
The ReStore is a home improvement outlet and thrift shop open to the public. Northwest Michigan Habitat for Humanity's ReStore recycles and sells overstocked, discontinued, new, used, and donated building materials, household furniture and furnishings, tools, appliances, antiques, collectibles, and more! Since 2007, generous donations and ReStore shoppers have funded the build of over 20 safe and affordable homes for families in need in Charlevoix and Emmet Counties.
Volunteers Help Us Build Homes and Hope!
There's a place for every age and skill level at Northwest Michigan Habitat for Humanity!
Committees- At Habitat, our committees provide support to each department. We are always seeking more volunteers from our local communities to serve on a committee and contribute fresh ideas to our organization. Our committees are as follows:
Lunch Provider- Volunteers are needed to help provide lunch for a wide range of volunteer opportunities from a group in our ReStore to a group on a jobsite.
